Dr. Fitch honored as “Most Influential Faculty Member” in SDSU ceremonies
Dr. Suzanne Fitch, Ed.D., The Institute for Effective Education’s (TIEE’s) Executive Director of Programs and Personnel, was awarded San Diego State University’s “Most Influential Faculty Member” in the Department of Education in two of the school’s ceremonies. The first occurred during the 2008-09 Honors and Awards Program held May 6, 2009, on the San Diego campus and the second was at the Imperial Valley campus’ commencement ceremonies, held May 21.
Dr. Fitch, a member of SDSU’s adjunct faculty since 1991, teaches research validated educational methods to students pursuing their special education teaching credentials. She has taught primarily at SDSU’s Imperial Valley campus. Dr. Fitch’s students comment that they find her “motivation and dedication . . . vastly inspiring.”
Dr. Fitch is also responsible for implementing a Federally funded “coach of coaches” teacher training program. She coaches fully credentialed special education teachers, who, in turn, coach beginning teachers. The “coach of coaches” program has proved helpful in disseminating the use of evidence-based teaching methods throughout the immense and ethnically diverse Imperial County of CA.
