5th Annual Alumni Breakfast a Fun Feast
On Tuesday, June 1st, the Urban Skills Center and COOK Education Center celebrated our 5th Annual Alumni Breakfast. Twenty-eight alumni from the class of 1993 to 2009 connected with us either at the breakfast or by phone to share their achievements and life experiences. Six alumni gave brief speeches about their work, education, and leisure experiences as well as advice for our current students. They shared information on the following resources: calling “211” for community information, taking classes at Mesa College, MiraCosta College, and Cuyamaca College, and participating in leisure activities through Sports for Exceptional Athletes. Many encouraged others to follow their dreams and goals. The breakfast gave current students an excellent opportunity to hear from graduates about their transition to adult life.

The breakfast was a success thanks to the students and staff members from the Urban Skills Center. They helped with clerical projects, decorations, videotaping, cooking, and serving the delicious food! We look forward to the Alumni Breakfast next year as it will continue to be on the first Tuesday of every June.
