Professional Training Institute

TIEE’s Professional Training Institute conducts basic and advanced training of evidence-based teaching methods that are applicable in regular education and special education school environments. TIEE’s commitment to professional training is articulated in its Mission Statement:

“. . . the dynamic development of TIEE and its schools is fostered by the on-going training of all teaching staff members in those methods and materials that have the weight of scientific evidence. This training is extended to all educators who share our interest as an expression of TIEE’s commitment to bring positive, effective schooling to all students, everywhere.”

TIEE’s schools are “lab schools.” Evidence based teaching methods are implemented by highly skilled professionals; our student body represents virtually the full spectrum of ability; the progress of our students is constantly monitored; promising practices that purportedly teach the skills and knowledge our students need are being systematically evaluated; our Leadership Team and other senior staff members are proven trainers. All our trainers “walk the walk.” All are committed to student achievement and to using proven methods.

We train many every year. We train in our own schools where professional growth is part of every direct-service staff member’s day; we train in workshops and conferences; and we train at San Diego area universities where some of us are on faculty.
