The combined PTG’s of COOK/Urban Skills Center, Children’s Workshop, and Mt. Helix Academy will jointly host the 2011 All-TIEE Gala at the beautiful Coronado Community Center. We will dance to the ‘Retro Rock and Roll’ of The Ideas, sip fine wines and dine on delicious treats provided by several fine local restaurants. “Elvis” and “Marilyn” to join in the entertainment!
Each year, the students of the Urban Skills Center sponsor a Gingerbread House Party for the younger children attending schools of The Institute for Effective Education. This year we will be celebrating our 2nd Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Party at Urban Skills Center on Friday December 17th, starting at 10 a.m. At this event, Urban Skills Center students will present gingerbread houses all ready for decoration to students from COOK Education Center’s Foundations program and Children’s Workshop. Students from Urban Skills Center and COOK Education Center’s Secondary Program have begun their annual tradition of volunteering as ushers for the school day performances of The Old Globe’s production of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. For the last five years, The Institute for Effective Education’s Vocational Education Department and The Old Globe Theater have partnered to provide students with a realistic experience as ushers at professional theatrical performances.
