Tdap Requirement for 2011-2012 School Year A new requirement from the California Department of Public Health, Immunization Branch, mandates that all students in grades 7th – 12th show proof of having had the whooping cough booster shot, called “Tdap,” before starting school in September 2011. Tdap protects against 3 dangerous diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough (pertussis). The combined PTG’s of COOK/Urban Skills Center, Children’s Workshop, and Mt. Helix Academy will jointly host the 2011 All-TIEE Gala at the beautiful Coronado Community Center. Children’s Workshop, along with the other schools of The Institute for Effective Education’s (TIEE’s) family of schools were given site visits by two review teams in spring, 2009.
