These are some great photos of the first Bate’s Nut Farm field trip! The students and staff had a great time racing through the “hay maze”, taking a tractor ride, and picking out pumpkins to take home! The adventurous day will surely be an experience the kids will be talking about for a while!
The Drama Class of COOK Education Center’s Foundations Program, under the direction of Ms. Powers, performed Minute Monologues recently for their families, friends, and teachers. Performances ranged from silly to serious, and all attendees enjoyed the presentations. Monologues included Smart Pet by Sam, Poor People by Joshua, Brainiac by Kavawn, and Not Guilty by Dylan. All of the monologues were obtained from the book, Minute Monologues for Kids, by Ruth Roddy.
On a sunny February day, seven Cook students were invited to a private tour of Petco Park – home of the San Diego Padres! The students were led by Robin Smith, coordinator of Disabled Guest Services and Alex Montoya, the manager of Latino Affairs for the Padres. Students had the opportunity to see areas of the park that most fans could only dream of, including being on the freshly trimmed field, behind the infamous home plate and in the sky high press box. California State Assembly Member Toni Atkins and her Senior Field Representative, Lindsey Masukawa, were given a tour of TIEE’s COOK Education Center by TIEE Executive Director, Dr. Suzy Fitch. Assembly Member Atkins’ tour came as a result of her desire to learn more about the continuum of publicly funded school options for students with special needs. Thanksgiving celebrated at COOK Education Center with traditional feasts COOK Education Center held two celebrations The COOK Foundations Program Thanksgiving Feast The students enjoyed a turkey sub sandwich, along with a selection of yummy side dishes and fantastic desserts!
