Dr. Suzy Fitch, Executive Director of Programs and Personnel for The Institute for Effective Education (TIEE), announced on October 11 that Jen Swope has been promoted to Director of COOK Education Center, one of TIEE’s four San Diego area schools.

Ms. Swope, who has been employed by TIEE since 2001, received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland. She was President of Pi Kappa Phi Honor Society and graduated cum laude. She holds a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and the Level II Education Specialist Credentials for both Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe. She is currently finishing her Masters Degree in special education at National University and is preparing to take the examination necessary to receive a BCBA.

Ms. Swope began her TIEE career as a paraprofessional at COOK Education Center. She was promoted to Special Education Teacher the following year, a position she held for three years when, in 2005, she was promoted to COOK Education Center Program Coordinator. As part of a restructuring of the school, Ms. Swope was promoted to Lead Coordinator of COOK Education Center’s Secondary Program in 2008 and her position as Director of COOK Education Center commences as of November 1, 2010.
