Urban Skills Center Gingerbread House Decorating Party
December 6th, 2010 by admin
Each year, the students of the Urban Skills Center sponsor a Gingerbread House Party for the younger children attending schools of The Institute for Effective Education. This year we will be celebrating our 2nd Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Party at Urban Skills Center on Friday December 17th, starting at 10 a.m.
At this event, Urban Skills Center students will present gingerbread houses all ready for decoration to students from COOK Education Center’s Foundations program and Children’s Workshop. The houses are created by Urban Skills Center students, who mix and roll the dough, cut out the pieces for the houses and then assemble the houses with delicious frosting. Students have already begun working on this project; at our recent Saturday School on December 4th, students mixed four batches of gingerbread dough for our holiday event.
On December 17th, our students will partner with each invited child to help decorate a gingerbread house. Every child attending this event will go home with a beautifully decorated gingerbread house to present as a holiday gift for the family. This event provides an important opportunity for our young adults to help younger students and experience the joy of helping others!
If you would like to help sponsor this event, contact Mary Taylor (mtaylor@tiee.org), Urban Skills Center Director, to find out how you can help.
