Founded in 1972, The Institute for Effective Education (TIEE) is a California non-profit corporation in good standing. Incorporated for the purpose of providing education and other services to individuals with unique learning needs.
All of TIEE’s schools are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), certified by the California Department of Education, and approved to serve foreign students by the U.S. Government.

Located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, Children’s Workshop provides intensive ABA education for students with moderate to severe learning and/or behavior problems associated with autism and other developmental disabilities. COOK Education Center is located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. Located just off I-8 in La Mesa, California, Mt. Helix Academy is WASC accredited and certified by the California Department of Education as a nonpublic, nonsectarian school educating students from transition kindergarten through 9th grade. Our kindergarteners learn to read and, at graduation from kindergarten, they read the speeches that they wrote. Located in San Diego’s Mission and next door to TIEE’s COOK Education Center, Urban Skills Center is WASC accredited and certified by the California Department of Education as a nonpublic, nonsectarian school. Urban Skills Center educates young adults, 18-22 years of age, whose learning challenges lead them to require a longer period of schooling to achieve a high school diploma.
