San Diego’s premier transition program

Urban Skills Center is a co-educational school for 18-22 year old adults with disabilities that is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and certified by the California Department of Education as a nonpublic, non-sectarian school.

School is in session for 210 days on a traditional calendar that typically begins the day after Labor Day each September.  Starting in the 2023/2024 school year, the school day is from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MWThF and from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesdays. Alternative school days are also available from time to time on Saturdays, during winter and spring vacations, and during summer vacation that enables students with attendance problems many opportunities to make progress on their goals.

Our commitment to quality education supporting transition to adult life
Urban Skills Center’s administration and staff is committed to providing evidence-based education that is essential for young adults with disabilities to achieve their maximum potential as members of the community. We emphasize student transition to adult life from the time of enrollment, so that by the time our seniors graduate, most have experienced a wide variety of apprentice-like job opportunities, both volunteer and paid. They are ready for work or junior college enrollment.
