Enrollment: 6-month seasonal blocks (Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer sessions).
Schedule: Activities are typically 4–5 hours, split into Morning Blocks (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM) or Afternoon Blocks (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM). Weekend and evening events are scheduled based on interest and availability.
V&AS is dedicated to helping enrollees explore San Diego, try new experiences, and build lasting friendships! Session goals are directly aligned with each person’s Individual Program Plan (IPP), with progress tracked and reviewed at the end of the 6-month block.
Key Components of the Social Rec Program Include:
- Activity planning and gathering community information
- Social communication and building meaningful friendships
- Participating in and evaluating community events and activities
- Managing schedules and transportation navigation
- Developing and using healthy coping strategies
- Maximizing self-direction to lead an inclusive, integrated life
- Funding Options: Open to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the San Diego Regional Center, the Self-Determination Program, or via Private Pay.
