Three TIEE teachers awarded Professional of the Year

TIEE’s 2016 Annual Awards function, held at the Coronado Community Center in late January, celebrated several staff members for longevity of service and for quality of service.

Selena Young, Speech/Language Assistant at Children’s Workshop, Suneeta Cohen, Junior High Teacher at Mt. Helix Academy, and Ellen Foggiano, Trans-Kindergarten Teacher at Mt. Helix Academy were honored for 10 years of service to TIEE’s schools.

Trish Gallagher, Elementary Teacher at Mt. Helix Academy, was honored for twenty years of service to TIEE schools, all of which was at Mt. Helix Academy.

Briana Shaefer, Direct-Service Paraprofessional at Children’s Workshop, was awarded TIEE’s Paraprofessional of the Year.

In an unusual move, TIEE announced more than one Professional of the Year. Three were chosen. Meghan Ameng of the Children’s Workshop faculty, Trish Gallagher of Mt. Helix Academy, and Jen Karel of COOK Education Center’s Workshop at COOK all were cited for their extraordinary teaching.

The function, which was attended by nearly 250 employees and their significant others, consisted of a cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing following the awards ceremony. A local DJ provided the music and Dr. Ken Traupmann, TIEE Executive Director, was the MC.
